The Process

The editing process of my front cover

This is the finished photograph i chose to have on my front cover. I edited the photo on photoshop and cut it out on paint. The cutting out process was very time consuming but well worth the time. I decided to keep the shadow in the image because i though it would add more effect to the photo.

This is the original photograph that i took of my sister. It is an image without all the editing. The image as a whole is a very dull colour and so i wanted to lighten it, the only way i could do this was by using photoshop. Photoshop is a complicated programme so i was nervous to use it. I noticed that with alot of music magazine the eyes of the person always looks straight at the camera and so i wanted to incorporate this with my front page model.

This was done on photoshop and you can see the difference with the left image to the right image. If you look carefully you can see that the right image is alot lighter compared to the left image. I altered the shadows in the image and highlighted certain parts of my sisters body to make the image look more unique and brighter as a whole. The editing process of this picture didn't take me long fortunately as i had decided how i wanted my picture from the start. I knew that i wanted the edited photo to be alot lighter then the original image as i have noticed that many magazines front covers have a light image.

When i tried to save the image i had overall finished editing it would not let me save it under a certain file so i had to change the format aswell. I didnt realise it was this much work to save an edited photo.

The cutting and cropping part was the most work i had to do. It was very time consuimg as it is a very precise job to do. I did this process on paint as i thought that it was the easiest programme to do it on. Firstly i used the straight line tool and used to colour white around the outside of the figure. After having gone round the whole of the figure i used the rubber/white paint to erase the rest of photo so that only my sister outline would be seen.

This is a print screen of me erasing the rest of the background so that the person is only shown in the photo. I noticed that on alot of front covers of music magazines they had a plain background and then the figure as the background. I wanted to do something simular wit
h my own magazine.

This is my finished music magazine. As you can see i used microsoft
publisher to arange and put together my magazine. Publisher is very useful as you can easily move things around to where you want them and edit certain bits of writing and images. I find publisher a very easy application to use. As you can see to the side of the print screen there is a choice of backgrounds that i could have used for my background of the magazine. I chose the tie dye yellow one.
